Episode 16-I just love your flashy ways

Episode 16-I just love your flashy ways

This week we go through my runs and how completely shitty one was physically, and on the other side of the coin how awful I felt mentally before another. Blech.

This week, we’re doing a Q & A, and I answering some running questions, but also some factoids about music, beer, and tattoos!

  1. Long Run Hydration–Tailwind
  2. The “Run” Tattoo on my hand:
  3. Stride Length/Pace Question–kind of my opinion on that one!
  4. Favorite Band(s)
    Incubus!

    Queen <3
  5. Shoe?
Nike Pegasus, but the 32s were my fave. I still have them kicking around.

  6. Beer?

    New Holland’s Dragon’s Milk
  7. Eyeliner, cheat sheet and brands?
    Trace and go 🙂
    NYX Liquid Liner

    Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
  8. Shower Beers?!
  9. Making shirts and merch? Yes and yes.  We’re just waiting on the new logo and we’ll start going from there.

Song For Your Running Playlist—today, brought to you by Sarah H of Minnesota! Fucking get DOWN.

Episode 15-You wanna get loud-It’s your god damn right

Episode 15-You wanna get loud-It’s your god damn right

This week, we’re quickly circling back to the Boston Marathon, winners, thoughts, and my plan for it going forward.

Then, we talk about my first trail run–The Rescue Run for Marine Mammals out in gorgeous Rye, NH., and how underestimating myself allowed me to shoot myself square in the foot. Nonetheless, a new fold to my running world has opened up!  A couple of pictures from the race below–a great day for running and toddler fun-even if she was wearing her cranky-pants…

Violet getting her run on, muddy shoes, baby love 🙂

Aaaaaand the results:    30:16  OR 9:45/mile  And it soooo could have been better if I had gone up a wave. GOD DAMMIT! 9:45/mile is still respectable for my first romp through the forest–but still, I know it could have been so much faster. BAH!

*shakes fist*

That all said–I went home and did 3 more with this ham cheering me on..

Topic this week we’re talking about is running and weight loss, the very basics–and tips you can take away.  Suggestions for how to run, time, distance, and some nutrition. And a mini rant on not being sold on the weight loss diets/supplements/bullshit that’s out there.

A couple of resources I mention in the episode:

-HR Calculator

-H20 Calculator

Product of the Week: Crank Sports E-Gel

All things meh.

Keep an ear out for me on Episode 561 of the Diz Runs podcast this week. We had a great conversation, and am pumped to have had the chance to sit down and talk with Denny!

When someone takes running pictures like this-they are obviously my friend. 😉

Remember guys, contact me—send me songs to feature, and I’ll send you the best sticker ever.

Love to all–fuck this. I’m going running.

Episode 14-No Stopping at the Green Light

Episode 14-No Stopping at the Green Light

This we are talking about how old I am and how long it took my ass to recover from my Vegas work trip. Good lord.

We also talk about a really awful week of running, my head not being in it, and what the hell is going on with that.

Then we talk the Boston Marathon–today is Marathon Monday, so why not??  What my plans are for Beantown, and the amazing stats that make up some of the monstrosity (I mean that in the best way possible) that is THE Boston Marathon.

Resource: WalletHub

This week’s product that I honest don’t care for: KT Tape/kinesiology tape.

I don’t know–I looked up the videos and images, and I just did NOT see the benefits.  Maybe my injuries weren’t severe enough, but I still have half a roll of this stuff, and definitely don’t reach for it when I’m hurting.

Song for your running playlist:

Episode 12-Down Beside That Red Firelight

Episode 12-Down Beside That Red Firelight

This week we’re talking half-marathon recovery and the difference between now, older, post-kids and five years ago. What I did differently, and what you might be able to take from it; epiphanies I had and what I’m planning going forward.

One more look at me flying and focused at mile 13..for once…

We also talk interval training, how I’ve used it successfully in the past month (ish) and how it can seriously benefit any runner–beginner to advanced/elite.  Below are some articles/resources to get you started:

Interval workouts for beginners–or really if you’re not sure how to start incorporating them

Jeff Galloway–basically the King of Run/Walk/Run.

Run Walk Run

Running Way’s article on walking breaks during the run (aka Intervals)

RunnersConnect Beginning to Advanced guide on Intervals

The Run Experience Walking Breaks for Beginners

Let me know if you try some of these interval workouts–like I mention anyone from beginning to an advanced athlete can benefit from intervals depending on their use and pace, of course, but I think definitely worth a shot!  I, personally, am already reaping the benefits!  So fucking good!

Product o’ the week:

Pine Trail Woodworks out of New Hampshire made your main lady here an awesome, simple, custom running medal holder!  I am in love.  Check them out, and  message them on Facebook to see what they can hook you up with!

Song for your running playlist:

Fat Bottomed Girls-Queen, submitted by Utonah Ruiz from Tennessee!  Thank you!

Don’t forget guys, email me a song, , Instagram message, or Facebook message me–and I’ll send you off a sticker!  I’ve already sent out a large stack already–which is fucking amazing, and here’s Jada and James with theirs 🙂

Stickers, bitches!

Jada!
James!

Okay guys, ’til next week!  Happy April.

Fuck this. Let’s go running!
